The artwork “Ballads of the Unseen” is an installation conceptualized and designed by Shreya Singh in collaboration with Chandni Chabbra. It is built like a wound disguised as architecture—a cross-shaped structure, fragile and porous, made of fabric and sound. Its form draws from the cross-sections used in construction and from the cross that lingers in the aftermath of medical emergencies. The space uses sound, projection, and responsive visuals within sheer fabric walls to create an environment that listens, remembers, and reacts.
At the heart of this installation, lies a belief that art is a language of memory—capable of holding what history erases. The installation's personal resonance comes from holding the murmurs of lives that built our cities and vanished within them. The takeaway for the audience is to see Ballads of the Unseen as a living monument—a technological and spatial act of witnessing—asking: What is the true price of a city and who pays it?
