Ravi Ughrejiya has been a Theatre Trainer and Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Dramatics at Gujarat Arts and Science College since 2014. He holds a BA and MA in Dramatics/Theatre Arts and has cleared UGC NET in Performing Arts (Theatre). Throughout his career, he has won several ‘Best Director’ awards at INT, AIAA Shimla, and other notable platforms. In Abhivyakti Edition 5, he presented ‘Bapuji Ni Chheli Iccha’. In this edition of Abhivyakti City Arts Project, Ravi presents the play ‘Ajab Nyay Tamaro, Gajab Nyay Tamaro,’ which criticises the weakening judicial system. Based on Bertolt Brecht’s ‘The Exception and The Rule’, the story follows a businessman and his labourers searching for oil wells in Kutch. The businessman treats the labourers unjustly and in the end, they fail to get justice due to money and power. The play humorously questions the current state of justice and highlights the inequalities of the system.
