Kadam Parikh has been devoted to practising Kathak for over 20 years now and has learned the same from Kathak maestros Maulik Shah & Ishira Parikh, from Ahmedabad. His dedication to preserving the classical form while infusing it with his own creativity has earned him recognition within the artistic community. Kadam has performed in various prestigious events across India as well as abroad. Recently, he received a national award - ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar’ - from the Sangeet Natak Akademi for his outstanding contribution to the field of Kathak. In this edition of Abhivyakti City Arts Project, Kadam brings a production based on an ‘aakhyan’ by Premanandji, a well-known medieval poet from Gujarat. With intricate movements and expressive storytelling, the performance delves into the emotional depth of the epic. The narrative showcases the unsaid stories of Abhimanyu from the Mahabharata, who, despite living a short life of just 16 years, became a celebrated character for which people still know him.
