The Harmonium Band

From the small town of Gejamuda in Chhattisgarh to the creative lanes of Mumbai, Mohan Sagar’s journey is a story of rhythm, resilience and reinvention. Born into a family with a background in music, Mohan was just five when he began learning under his mother, Laxmibai, a bhajan artist and his father, Ramdayal Sarthi, a rhythm player. His first guru, Shri Ramesh Kumar Suryavanshi, introduced him to what would become his lifelong companion, the harmonium. He also trained under Shri Vedmani Singh Thakur, Nitin dubey & Likeshwar Verma.

With guidance from teachers like Ms. Kalyani Mukherjee, and Mr. Yogendra Chaubey at the

Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Mohan trained in both classical music and acting, eventually joining the National School of Drama (NSD) repertory in 2014. In 2018, he moved to Mumbai, where he continues to work as an actor, music director, singer and composer.

At Abhivyakti, Mohan presents The Harmonium Band, a heartfelt tribute to the instrument that shaped his artistic identity. What began as a project performing film covers has evolved into a fusion ensemble featuring ten original compositions, all woven into a seamless narrative.

For the audience, The Harmonium Band promises an immersive, melodic journey, one that bridges tradition and innovation, and celebrates the enduring power of sound.
