The Box
Born in Patan, Gujarat, Pritesh Mehta began his journey in dance without studios or formal training, teaching himself through online videos before opening his first studio in high school. His choreography soon appeared on national television in Dance India Dance and India’s Got Talent, which marked a turning point in his career.
He went on to train formally at the Terence Lewis Professional Training Institute, later moving to Canada to deepen his practice in contemporary, ballet and jazz. His work has since been recognised with awards and scholarships, and he now serves as Associate Artistic Director of Sinha Danse in Montreal.
At Abhivyakti, Pritesh presents The Box, an immersive contemporary dance-theatre work that blurs the line between performance and reality. Through a blend of live-feed projections and raw movement, the piece questions our digital habits and asks: in a world of constant curation, are we living, or only performing?
