Silent Thresholds: Hidden Ecosystem
Knownsense Studios Collective is a multidisciplinary collaboration between Himanshu, Yashvi, Uddhav and Mandeep, each contributing a distinct creative strength to the project. Himanshu leads the creative direction, Yashvi focuses on the sculptural form, Uddhav develops the visual elements and Mandeep integrates technology. With over fifteen years of experience, Himanshu and Mandeep co-founded Knownsense Studios, a renowned new media studio recognized for its innovative work in art, design and technology-driven installations. Together, the collective explores the intersections of human interaction, digital media and physical space.
“Silent Thresholds: Hidden Ecosystem” is an immersive installation combining projection mapping, motion sensors, AI-generated visuals and mixed-media sculpture. The work reimagines three traditional elements of Gujarati urban life, the chabutra, the otla and the hinchko, as symbolic monuments of disconnection. Once central to social and ecological life, these forms now appear transformed and estranged, reflecting the fading harmony between people, space and nature.
The installation questions what remains when cultural forms are preserved in appearance but emptied of their living ecosystems, turning heritage into haunting memory.
