Shared Flame

Architect-turned-ceramist Maulik Oza, artist and mentor Khanjan Dalal, and designer-ceramist Raji Devta each bring a distinct journey that reflects their deep engagement with clay and design. Maulik, founder of MO Ceramic and Design Pvt. Ltd., merges architectural precision with material innovation. Khanjan, a multidisciplinary artist and co-founder of the Indian Ceramic Art Foundation (ICAF), has exhibited extensively in India and abroad, contributing significantly to the growth of contemporary ceramic arts. Raji, founder of Clayventures, blends thoughtful craftsmanship with playful experimentation, informed by her experiences at Golden Bridge Pottery and global residencies. Together, their practices intersect art, architecture and design - celebrating clay as a medium of transformation, collaboration and cultural continuity.

“Shared Flame” brings together ceramic, metal and glass in a suspended, spatial composition that traces the anatomy of a wood-fired kiln. Sculptural forms, each marked by the unpredictable imprint of flame and ash, are arranged within a glass-and-wire framework that mirrors the kiln’s interior flow. The interplay of textures-melted glaze, charred metal and translucent glass - reveals the dialogue between material resistance and transformation. Through scale and transparency, the installation turns the invisible process of firing into a visible, experiential environment.

This art is an invitation to witness creation as collaboration between artists, elements and the act of fire itself. The work becomes a metaphor for shared experience and transformation - reminding viewers that, like clay in the kiln, we are all continually shaped by the forces that surround and unite us.
