Multiple Encounters

Nitin Kumar is a visual artist specializing in printmaking. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Visual Arts (Printmaking) at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He has participated in the 1st Internationale GCB-MINIPRINT Exhibition in Berlin (2023) and the Bengaluru Print Exchange International (2024) and received the National Travel Grant and Open Hand Art Studio Scholarship from the Lalit Kala Akademi.

The installation “Multiple Encounters” is created using Etching on zinc, Ceramic, terracotta, cement, sand and water. Rooted in the artist’s daily walks through Baroda, it captures the sensory experience of navigating urban spaces. Comprising 40–50 etching frames mounted on ceramic legs over a terracotta-paved surface, each frame reflects fragmented architectures and atmospheres, turning walking into a poetic visual dialogue of texture and memory.

For Nitin, this work translates movement and observation into tangible form. It invites viewers to see walking not as transit, but as an act of sensing, remembering and belonging within the layered rhythm of city life.
