Living into the Abyss 1

Suvradeep Samanta is a multidisciplinary artist based in Baroda, working across sculpture, painting, drawing and mixed media. A graduate in fine arts, his practice explores the intersections of material, memory and urban existence. His works reflect a deep engagement with the structures and psychological dimensions of modern life.

“Living into the Abyss 1” is created using oil, acrylic, wood, metal wire and nylon, combining tactile and industrial materials to construct a metaphor for urban isolation. The layered textures and spatial compositions evoke the overwhelming pace and pressure of contemporary living, where individuals are often consumed by invisible mental burdens.

For Suvradeep, the work serves as both a mirror and a plea, urging collective awareness toward psychological alienation and the neglected facets of mental health. Through his art, he seeks to remind viewers of the need to pause, reflect and rediscover the deeper purpose that often gets lost in the chaos of city life.
