Life of Lalu
Aalap Harshadbhai Tripathi’s journey in theatre began during his school days and grew steadily through backstage work, workshops and performances with names like Nimesh Desai and Kamal Joshi. Over the years he has worked as writer, producer, copywriter and creative head across theatre, radio, television and OTT. He has led theatre workshops for slum children in Ahmedabad and for rural Gujarat, using art as a means of access and empowerment. Along with his role as Regional Head at My FM for Gujarat and Rajasthan he continues to write plays and films, bringing sharp humour and layered storytelling to the stage.
Aalap presents Life of Lalu, a comical satire where human life is mirrored through the metaphor of a dog’s journey. Costumed performers embody canine instincts to tell the story of Lalu, a dog who leaves his village for the city in search of power and recognition only to find himself caught in another race. His perspective shifts when love enters his life, teaching him to slow down and embrace joy. With music by Maulik Nayak, Nitish Parekh and Anand Parekh, and direction by Sunil Vaghela, the play is filled with dance, songs and laughter.
For Aalap, every performance is a reminder that theatre is not only a reflection but also a celebration.
