Jaya Angi Mothepana, Taya Yatana Kathin

for over 30 years. A disciple of Guru Pandita Maneesha Sathe, she has nurtured her practice through performance, teaching and choreography, running her own dance studio in Pune for the past 17 years. Alongside her artistic journey, she holds MAs in English and Sanskrit, which enrich her approach to storytelling and the layered narratives in her work.

At Abhivyakti, Manasee presents Jya Angi Mothepana, Tya Yatana Kathin, a Kathak dance-drama created with her groups Nrityarati and Trimitee. The title translates as “the path to glory passes through immense hardships,” and the piece reflects on the lives of visionaries such as Copernicus, Kepler and Galileo, who faced resistance for their groundbreaking ideas, while reminding us that truth is never fixed but an ongoing search across generations.

The concept, script and direction are by Manasee, with choreography by Manasee, Purva Shah and Padmashri Joshi. For her, this production is more than a historical reflection. It carries a universal message of resilience, courage and learning that speaks to everyone. She hopes audiences leave inspired by the enduring strength of those who walk difficult paths in pursuit of truth.
