In this one-hour presentation, writer Bhushan Korgaonkar takes us on a virtual tour of the traditional Sangeet Bari Lavani theatres, using images and video clips to explore the lives of the artists who live and work there. These performers belong to matriarchal communities and dance primarily to entertain men. Bhushan will also read excerpts from his book in Hindi, with the overall narrative presented in both English and Hindi. Additionally, there will be Lavani performances by dancer Gauri Jadhav, who will also present a dramatised excerpt from Bhushan's new play.
