Crack Beneath Our Feet

Megha Singh is a Delhi-based artist whose work reflects on the changing urban environment and the fragile balance between growth and decay. Her practice transforms observations of city life into visual narratives that question the cost of development on both human and ecological levels.

The installation “Crack Beneath Our Feet” is created using Canvas, Acrylic Paint, Paper Pulp, Nepali Handmade Paper, Charcoal and Glue. The four interconnected paintings examine how urban expansion quietly erodes the natural and emotional foundations of life. Using muted earthy tones and tactile materials like paper pulp and dust colour, the works evoke textures of old walls, termite trails and fading posters - remnants of a city in constant flux. The repeated use of fine, restless lines mirrors the energy of Delhi’s urban grid, where every structure competes for space and visibility.

Through this art, Megha captures the unsettling beauty of urban transformation. Her paintings remind viewers that progress often conceals loss - of silence, of organic life, of histories buried beneath concrete.
