From Ahmedabad, freestyle hip hop dancer Ritesh has been moving to rhythm since childhood. His artistic journey found direction in 2019 when he became part of the city’s underground dance scene, guided by seniors such as Ashutosh Prakash, Srilaxmi and Sanjay Verma. A pivotal moment came when French dancer Shadow Sefiroeh selected him for his crew, giving him the drive to push forward and refine his craft.

Kunal, on the other hand, started his dancing journey in 2022. He is 21 years old and started exploring hip hop initially, which quickly became something much more meaningful for him. It became a language of storytelling for Kunal. His journey has been all about curiosity about how art can connect stories beyond words.

At Abhivyakti, Ritesh & Kunal present “Bounce: The Genesis of Everything”. The performance explores ‘bounce’, the foundation of hip hop, as the source of all creation. From the Big Bang to the rise of human experience, bounce is imagined as the force behind life, emotions and perspective. It is shown as a loop, a journey and a reflection, ending with the question: why is bounce the way it is?

For the duo, bounce is more than a technique. It is a way of life and a constant reminder to stay humble and keep learning. Even decades from now, he believes it will remain at the core of who he is. With this work, he hopes the audience will discover their own answers and connections through bounce, carrying its rhythm within them long after the performance.
