Baisa's Podcast

Pune-based dancer Anushka Chandak has been practising Kathak since the age of seven. A graduate in Performing Arts with Kathak as her major, she also holds a Kathak Alankar from Bharti Vidyapeeth under the guidance of Guru Pandita Maneesha Sathe. Her artistic curiosity extends into Rajasthani folk traditions, particularly Ghoomar, which she has been researching and teaching herself over the past two years. She is also a dance expert with SIFF Young Artiste Bangalore, where she designed their Kathak curriculum and tutorials.

Her work “Baisa’s Podcast” draws from conversations with her grandmother, reimagined on stage as a dialogue between two generations of women. The grandmother’s voice is expressed through Rajasthani folk forms while the granddaughter responds through Kathak, set to the cadence of human voices. What emerges is an honest, witty and sometimes raw exchange about womanhood, progression and community.

By weaving storytelling with movement, Anushka invites the audience to laugh, reflect and remember, leaving them with both nostalgia and the urgency of questions that remain relevant today.
