Hemank curates Maaye Ni Meri Akh Lag Gayi, the first presentation of his newly-formed Dhuntara Collective. The play tells the story of Tooti, a 25-year-old dreamer whose search for a missing slipper takes him on a surreal journey to the moon. Staged simply with six actors on a bare platform, the piece uses Punjabi folk forms like Bhangra and Gidda to weave humour, imagination and hope. For Hemank, Tooti’s determination reflects his own journey in theatre. He hopes the performance inspires audiences to believe that no dream is too far to reach.
