Born into a family of artists, Alka was deeply influenced by her father's paintings and love of art. She has a passion for photography and has been an admirer of nature and wildlife. She holds a Master's degree in Apparel and Textiles, and her hands-on experience in the textile industry has proven useful during her classroom studies at M. S. University and NIFT.
