Her performance, titled “The Blue Hour,” revolves around the idea of acceptance and balance. It draws from the fleeting yet magical moment when day meets night, when light and dark coexist in harmony. Through movement, Ritu and her team depict the beauty that emerges when opposites complement each other, and the emptiness felt when one is absent. Inspired by animated storytelling, she weaves theatricality and stagecraft into her choreography. A highlight of the piece is the innovative use of lighting, the way it travels with characters to mirror the push and pull between brightness and shadow.
For Ritu, the performance is also personally an attempt to challenge stereotypes around darkness. Instead of fear or danger, she wants to evoke peace, beauty and the quiet comfort of the night. She hopes audiences leave with a simple but profound realisation that darkness is not something to be feared, but embraced as an essential part of life’s balance.
