Dola's career began with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Visva-Bharati Santiniketan. He was a latecomer to the art world, so he came to Vadodara and studied B.V.A. in Painting. During this time, he was able to find his artistic specialty; he was influenced by eminent artists like Kiki Smith, Bill Viola, Mithu Sen and Imran Qureshi. The idea of identity is central to his artworks in many contexts, and his artworks are filled with poetic scenes.
