The end?

“The End?” is a sculpture made using wood bark and paper maché, capturing the moment a woman has fallen, not just physically, but in life. Inspired by a dance movement from ice skating where the performer bends backward to the lyric “the loser has to fall,” the work reflects the societal gaze placed on women who stumble or take longer to reach their goals. The red cloth being pulled away becomes a striking symbol of freedom and opportunity being taken from her, echoing the pressures of invisible timelines tied to marriage, success, or age.

The sculpture draws from personal experience, expressing the fear of running out of time- of missing a moment, a chance or a dream. Yet, within this fall lies strength. The piece redefines the act of falling as an assertion of resilience rather than defeat. “The End?” becomes a quiet but powerful reminder that failure and delay are not endings, but part of the rhythm of growth and self-discovery.
