Srilakshmi, the founder and curator behind ‘Misbehaving Beautifully,’ has been instrumental in creating a safe space for the dancers of Ahmedabad. Her inclusive studio teaches various forms of dance, empowering individuals to express themselves freely & explore the intimacy experienced in moving the body. With her love for travelling around the globe for dance battles, she has recently been seen in South Asian Countries, where she has also been a judge for a dance battle in Thailand. In this edition of Abhivyakti City Arts Project, Srilakshmi’s dance musical production shares the concept ‘I am a Disco Dancer’ and narrates the idea of free expression that everyone desires to put out. Especially after the everyday ruckus of work life, one finds their balance in life by moving their bodies to music while clubbing & while moving their hands in a liberating way. This concept highlights how Waacking has evolved from L.A. & travelled to various parts of the world, touching the Waacking scenes of both the city and the country
