Anupa Pota is a seasoned singer with over two decades of experience in Garba and Sugam Sangeet. Under the guidance of Smt. Piyuben Sarkhel, Anupa continues to refine her skills in Indian classical music. Anupa's passion for preserving tradition led her to form "Sharnam Vrund," a diverse group of singers from the Nagar Community. This collective embodies the spirit of family and community, fostering a sense of belonging through their shared musical heritage. In this edition of Abhivyakti City Arts Project, Anupa brings "Betha Garba by Sharnam Vrund" - a tribute to the age-old tradition of Betha Garba, a unique performance art practised by the Nagar Community during Navratri to worship their Kuldevi. The production aims to showcase the soulful invocation and installation of Mataji, preserving this oral tradition that dates back to the 17th century. Through carefully selected Betha Garba compositions, the performance will highlight the rich musicality of this tradition, offering a glimpse of the Nagar Community's cultural heritage.
